About Sonion
Sonion is a global leader in the hearing aid and pro-audio industry. With R&D centers and manufacturing facilities in the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Vietnam, the Philippines, the US and China, Sonion develops and produces innovative solutions for customers who manufacture hearing instruments and other acoustic systems. The Dutch R&D center plays a pivotal role in the development of transducers and modules.
Within Sonion, you will join the Receiver & RIC team, where state-of-the-art technology is developed that directly impacts the performance and reliability of Sonion’s products. The team currently consists of 11 high educated engineers.
The Role
Within this team there is an opportunity for either a junior or senior candidate:
- Junior entry: focus on simulation – experience with FEM/LEM and simulation software is a must.
- Senior entry: combination of simulation and product development experience, with multidisciplinary knowledge and proven track record in complex projects.
You will contribute to the development of new products and technologies, the improvement of existing products, and the execution of simulations and prototyping in support of Sonion’s innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Innovation: monitor and contribute to technological developments; conduct research on materials, methods and market trends; submit invention ideas (IRFs) for Intellectual Property evaluation.
- Project participation: work in multidisciplinary teams on international development projects.
- Design & modification: carry out feasibility studies, risk analyses, modeling and simulations; develop technical specifications and virtual prototypes; advise on material choices.
- New Product Development: validate or eliminate concepts, create and test prototypes, ensure compliance with international standards and specifications, transfer designs to production.
- Advice & support: advise internal stakeholders, collaborate with colleagues in other global sites, support production and industrialization, and (for senior candidates) coach and guide less experienced engineers.
Candidate Profile
Junior (Simulation Engineer)
- Master or PhD in Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- 0–4 years of experience in development engineering.
- Knowledge of FEM/LEM theory and experience with FEM tools such as COMSOL or ANSYS, or SPICE simulators (OrCAD, LTSpice).
- Basic knowledge of one or more disciplines: acoustics, electromechanics, computational mechanics.
- Analytical, systematic, innovative and solution-oriented.
Senior (Simulation & Product Development Engineer)
- Strong advisory skills, detail-oriented, proactive in innovation and patenting.
- Master or PhD with 4–9 years of experience in development engineering.
- Solid track record in both simulation (FEM/LEM, FEA, virtual prototyping) and product development (design, verification, testing, transfer to production).
