User Test Engineer

Your tasks and responsibilities

User testing is becoming increasingly important for Sonion as a mean to make better value propositions and products, through validation of key assumptions or features early on in our development. The User Test Engineer will lead the work of making user testing effective and efficient in Sonion by owning our BioLab, planning its workload and ensuring the necessary procedures, tools and equipment, protocols and documentation is in place for testing and the subsequent data collection.

Hereby the User Testing Engineer will help the development and validation of value propositions and products, and support Sonion being a market leader in our industry.

You will be part of Development Support Services team. You will report to the Manager DSS.

The position is based in the Sonion’s office in Hoofddorp Netherlands.

  • Own the BioLab and be first point of contact, ensuring the necessary test equipment and measurement stations are installed, setup, tested and functioning
  • Ensure BioLab’s responsibilities are clearly defined and communicated to the organization
  • Manage the planning of test and studies from the BioLab perspective, to ensure resource availability and avoid bottlenecks in the BioLab and/or that tests become a delay for projects
  • Write the detailed Test Protocol that define test procedures, and such that the tests are conducted efficiently with minimal risk, using input from Consumer Centricity and R&D
  • Write the necessary SMI’s and conduct User-FMEA’s to facilitate the tests, in collaboration with Sonion Quality Assurance
  • Lead the effort of conducting test and collecting test data, aligned with the Consumer Centricity data analyst
  • Consolidate test data from Research Manager tool or in Excel, quality check data, deliver to Consumer Centricity for analyses, and support CC with questions related to the data collection
  • Support Consumer Centricity in creating Test charters by incorporating the learnings from previous user tests
  • Training and coaching of BioLab supervisors in execution of test protocols and usage of equipment
  • Support and Advise the procurement of new equipment, interface with the supplier to ensure a smooth setup of new equipment
  • Be the link between R&D and CC for the Audiology office, and ensure alignment between Audiology office and the BioLab, and help to eventually integrate the two

 

Your profile

  • Relevant degree in Industrial Design, Interaction Design, Engineering, UX design or similar;
  • Fluent in English and Dutch (verbal and written);
  • Solid analytical and communication skills;
  • Driven, independent and supportive;
  • Interest in Consumer Behaviors, Design Thinking and Human Factors Design
  • Experience with User testing, medical/sport testing and/or Lab testing is a plus;

Equally important to your knowledge and experience is the personality you bring. We need someone who is social, hands-on, proactive, eager to learn and result driven. You can interact effectively with a wide variety of people with different backgrounds.
