Systems Integration Engineer

To design and build multi-disciplinary audio systems and to translate the requirements of the several stakeholders into a system architecture.

Sonion Nederland B.V (Sonion NL) is a company in the Sonion Group which is a global supplier within the Hearing Aid Industry. The Sonion Group develops, manufactures, and sells product solutions to customers who manufacture hearing instruments and other acoustic solutions. Sonion NL is the main R&D center within transducers and modules, but Sonion NL also has sales supportive activities such as Application Engineering, CQS, and administrative support functions. Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Having a solid knowledge of the problem domain, the business context, the human context, the solution domain, technology roadmaps and preceding architectures;
  • Support the design in process and design-win of Sonion products into hearables, TWS and OTC devices by defining the architecture, matching components specification and software/firmware into an optimal electronic, acoustic and mechanical design;
  • Be the link between Product Management and Sonion R&D/R&T and (software) partners, by translating the defined use-cases info specifications for new products, and securing the alignment of them throughout the development;
  • Build up knowledge through teardown analysis, benchmarking of our systems vs. competitor solutions and driving the development of demonstrators to proof of concept. This sets the technical direction for hardware and software/algorithm development partners;
  • Support the Application Engineers by participating in meetings with customers and partners towards design-win on their (reference) platforms by systems understanding;
  • Contributing to customer satisfaction by providing systems architecture proposals and recommendations;
  • Define a product/solution offering which is balanced between Sonion strategic goals and Customer demands;
  • Defining Requirements Specifications at the start of the Product Development;
  • Work with R&D team and product Management to secure continuous alignment between use-cases and feasible product specifications throughout the development projects.

Your profile

  • Technical education in Software, Physics, Electronics or related field at Master or PhD level;
  • 5-7 years of hands-on experience of low-power embedded software system development with integration of sensors/SoCs/ Bluetooth/DSP algorithms, and mechanics;
  • Experience in programming DSPs and Micro-processors;
  • Several years of experience working in a Development environment and with technical interaction with global base of partners and customers;
  • Strong technical knowledge in audio products, acoustical, biometric sensors and or audio DSP;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Helicopter view;
  • Can-do mentality;
  • Positive and entrepreneurial mentality;
  • Self-driven and ambitious mindset.
