Sonion's combined competencies in micromechanics and transducer technology make us a valuable partner in the design and production of various modules for hearing health and other applications where both competencies are utilized in the same device.
RIC Plug & Socket
Sonion offers the smallest RIC Plug & Socket connector system possible. The connector system has a good ‘click feel’ when engaging plug. The plug is mountable in a customized plug cover with 3 terminal connections, but can easily be modified to fit other BTE designs. The socket fits any existing OTE BTE designs and makes it unnecessary to make a redesign.
Combination Units
Sonion was the first to pioneer the Combination Unit. For example, the Sonion Combination Unit CU 10 is a unique integration of six components; Microphone, push button, programming system, battery door for battery size 10A, battery springs and flex PCB for circuit attachment.
The tight integration of components allows for push button functionality on top of the battery door. This is utilized to enable Complete-In-Canal (CIC) type hearing instruments with push button functionality. Since the pioneering work in the Combination Unit, Sonion has developed several modules for hearing instruments and in-ear earphones.
C-BarrierTM
Sonion offers you the C-Barrier™, a Total Wax & Moisture Protection System for all hearing instrument manufacturers. Earwax is the most common cause of hearing instruments being returned for repair. While wax protection systems are nothing new to the industry, most of the wax protection systems on the market act like a "trap" to help catch cerumen from entering the instrument.
The benefits of the C-Barrier™ are to provide increased life expectancy of hearing instruments in the field. The C-Barrier™ can be easily cleaned and replaced when needed. For ease of use, Sonion has designed a package which contains four C-Barrier™ units including a simple removal and insertion tool. This package can be used either by the end-user or the dispensing audiologist. The C-Barrier™ membrane can easily be cleaned by using a soft tissue.
Sonion has also designed a tape and reel packaging that you can use to help transporting the C-Barrier™ and thereby ease application in your production.
Sonion Sound Dampers
The sound damper can be placed in a tube for modifying the frequency response of the acoustic system. Our sound dampers come with seven different acoustic resistances. The housing color identifies the acoustic resistance. A mounting/removal tool is available and the rounded corners assure an easy mounting in the tube. |
