Sonion Introduces C-Grid Wax Protection - Plug and Play

Sonion introduces C-Grid wax protection – Plug'n Play!

C-Grid Wax Protection

We are happy to announce the release of the C-Grid plug’n play wax guard. Unlike the membrane design which was applied in the C-barrier solution offered by Sonion until 2011, the C-grid is applying the more commonly used grid principle, while it retains the easy to apply direct insertion principle used also by the C-barrier.

Uncomplicated
Unlike traditional wax guards on the market, C-Grid does not require a special insert to be added to custom hearing instrument shells. Instead, C-Grid is designed for direct insertion into a receiver tube. A ridge surrounding the base of C-Grid creates tension inside the receiver tube. The resultant retention force (2.8N) provides a firm and secure fit of C-Grid inside the hearing instrument.
Without the need of a special insert you not only eliminate additional component costs, but also the processing time required to glue the insert into the hearing instrument.
C-Grid is acoustically transparent.

Flexible
C-Grid can be customized with different ridge sizes, making it possible to fit them inside different size tubes ranging from 1.47 mm in inner diameter. The standard off-the-shelf C-Grid fits the 1.47 mm tube.
C-Grid can be used as a wax guard in both custom shells and RIC/RITE/CRT instruments.
C-Grid is also backwards compatible to the C-barrier wax guard offered by Sonion up until 2011.

Great usability
In addition to its properties as an efficient protection against build-up of wax in the tube and receiver, C-Grid has also been designed with a focus on usability.
C-Grid is designed so that the surface of the wax guard is even with the surface of the shell. This prevents unintentional removal or discomfort from the wax guard rubbing against the skin. The wax guard and tool are designed to prevent incorrect insertion or removal inside the hearing instrument. The user will experience a distinct tactile feel when the wax guard is properly placed inside the tube and only at this point will it allow the wax guard to be released.
